How It Works?
Courses are uniquely designed to facilitate student learning and include audio lectures, dynamic interviews with professionals in clinical practice, original articles from Hawthorn University, and textbook readings. Students receive materials online. Audio lectures are delivered in an online format. Students complete practical activities, research and written assignments, practice exercises, and other community projects. Each course concludes with a teacher-student conference and oral review via phone. Students have the option to engage in online discussions with faculty and other students via website based message boards. Additionally, Hawthorn students are invited to webinars where leading professionals in the field discuss current nutritional topics with students. Webinars are archived for later use by students. Webinars are held every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month at 4 PM PST / 7 PM EST.
Instructors work individually with students to promote personal and professional health and enrichment. This online program strives to create an environment rich with ongoing support via webinars with other students, online community tools and interactive teacher-student tutorials. This interactive relationship guides the Nutrition Consultant learning experience at Hawthorn. Studies are personalized to challenge students' skill levels. Assignments are designed to engage and connect students with their own communities and to develop each student's unique skills and interests in health.
We are excited about new educational opportunities available to online learners paired with the support and tutoring of your Hawthorn instructor. Educational tools include audio lectures, textbooks, journals, websites, diet analysis software, hands-on and community-based assignments, and individual teacher-student interaction. Successful students actively participate in their studies, dynamically prepare for teacher-student phone conversations, apply the principles being learned to their own lives, and share their information and experiences with others and network with other professionals.
